Sep 02, 2015 03:30PM ● By Doug Erlien

With a nearly finished gym as their backdrop, the Maple Grove Senior High Crimson girls volleyball team hosted the Osseo Senior High Orioles Tuesday, Sept. 1. With the gym awaiting its finishing touches, the Orioles proved in the early season they have no problem finishing as they defeated the Crimson 3-2.

Osseo rallied to take the first game 25-23 then watched as the Crimson dominated the second 25-18. The teams played a tight third game that saw Maple Grove sneak out a 25-23 victory. The Crimson took advantage with strong play in the middle giving them a 2-1 lead. With the pressure firmly on the Orioles, Osseo rallied past the Crimson 25-18 to even the match, then never looked back in the fifth game with a 15-10 win.

Osseo junior Tina Boe was the story for the Orioles as she finished with 20 kills and six blocks while senior Lauren Bright tallied 16 kills for Maple Grove.
