Proclamation of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Maple Grove

At its Monday, Oct. 5 meeting, the Maple Grove City Council approved a proclamation of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Maple Grove.

On the agenda, the Maple Grove Police Department - Maple Grove , MN wrote:

“Domestic violence is a crime in which one family member or intimate partner (current or past) engages in abusive behavior against another in order to gain or maintain power and control in the relationship.

This violence can be actual or threatened use of physical, sexual, or psychological actions and affects not only the intended victim but also family, friends, and associates of the victim. The repercussions of domestic violence can be felt throughout a community.”

By proclaiming October as Domestic Violence Awareness month, supports the “departments continued efforts to take an active stance in the effort to end domestic violence,” it continued.
