Who Plasma Donations Help:
Plasma is the pale yellow liquid portion of blood that can be easily replaced by the body. It consists mainly of water and proteins. Because plasma can’t be manufactured and can only be obtained by living donors. Plasma assists in several life-saving medical procedures including trauma victims, blood replacement and hemophiliacs.
The Donation Process:
Donors are able to schedule their donation by calling the center at 763-416-5511 or by logging on to the BioLife website.
At their initial appointment, donors will go through a physical to verify they are able to proceed with the donation process. Once cleared, the process takes anywhere from 50-70 minutes to complete the plasma donation.
