Osseo Celebrates Prep Bowl One Last Time

Nov 23, 2015 05:40AM ● By Doug Erlien
The Osseo Senior High School  football team celebrated their first ever Prep Bowl championship in the same place it began nearly three months ago. On Saturday, Nov. 21, the city of Osseo threw the team a parade that ended in Boerboom Park with fans lining the streets to cheer one last time.

"This thing we always talk about is Osseo pride. It was here before us and it'll be here long after us," Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe said. "Pride is one thing that has kept this town alive. Down three losses in the middle of the season, everyone didn't give you the credit you deserved. You kept battling back and found a way to win. That's kind of what we do here in Osseo."

Osseo won every playoff game in comeback fashion including the championship game against East Ridge in which the team marched down TCF Bank field on a 16 play drive to defeat the Raptors 14-13.

“I know in other communities, they don’t get too excited when teams win championships,” Orioles Head Coach Derrin Lamker said. “We support each other no matter what.”
