A proposal to construct the first phase of a two-phase project  - a 11,600 square foot daycare center – recently received approval from the Maple Grove City Council.

At the Nov. 16 meeting, the city council asked the city attorney draft a resolution approving the Planned Unit Development (PUD) Development Stage Plan of Kiddiegarten, to be located at 9495 Garland Lane at the southwest corner of Garland Lane and County Road 30, with a few conditions:
  • Submission of an updated landscape plan “showing no more than 20% of a single species and subject to any comments from the Arbor Committee. Also adding additional trees or moving trees to the west side of the property adjacent to the residential area.”
  • Revision of the grading and drainage system and plans to city’s approval.
  • Submission of revised utility plan.
  • Temporary curbing installed where first phase parking area.

The resolution was unanimously passed by the Maple Grove City Council on the consent agenda at their Monday, Dec. 6 meeting.

The second-phase of the proposed project, a 9,000 square foot commercial building, requires a separate PUD –Development Stage Plan.

The proposed building for the new child care center would serve children from six weeks to prekindergarten – with a capacity to serve approximately 138 children.  According to an August 2015 project narrative, Kiddiegarten is hoping to be open for operation June 1, 2016. Approximately 30 full-time equivalent staff members are anticipated to be employed by the business.
