Sports Notes: Holiday Tournaments in the Books

Maple Grove Senior High School Girls Hockey
The Crimson played in the Edina holiday tournament and finished 2-1 with impressive wins over Irondale and Stillwater, Maple Grove played in the championship game against Breck.
The Mustangs, ranked second in class A defeated the Crimson 3-0 behind three goals from Sydney Breza.
The Crimson are off until Jan. 9, 2016 when they face Totino-Grace at Parade Ice Garden.
Maple Grove Senior High School Boys Hockey
It was an up and down three days for the Crimson. After a strong 3-1 win over Moorhead, they found rough skating against Stillwater losing 8-2 to the Ponies. In the third day, the Crimson faced undefeated Benilde-St. Margaret’s and gave the top ranked Red Knights all they could handle pushing them to overtime.
The Crimson (5-9) are off until Thursday, January 9th
when they host Anoka.
Maple Grove Senior High School Girls Basketball
The Crimson girls dropped a pair of games at the STMA holiday tournament. They fell to No. 4 STMA in overtime and dropped a hard fought game against Edina on day number two.
Mackenzie Barta earned all-tournament team honors and is currently 104 points shy of the 1,000 career point mark.
The Crimson (4-5) face Totino-Grace Tuesday, January 5.
Maple Grove Senior High School Boys Basketball
After battling No. 2 Apple Valley to an overtime thriller, the Crimson boys basketball team turned around and crushed St. Cloud Tech 82-40 in the final game of the Granite City Classic.
Junior Brad Davison became the fastest player in Maple Grove school history to reach the 1,000 point mark in the second half of the Apple Valley game.
Maple Grove (7-1) finishes a tough week Saturday at the Timberwolves Gatorade Shootout where they will face Iowa City West at 12:45 at Target Center.
Osseo Senior High School Girls Basketball
The Orioles won both their games at the Rochester Rotary Tournament against Bloomington Kennedy and Waconia pushing their winning streak to six.
Osseo returns to action Tuesday January 5th when they host Armstrong.
The Orioles defeated Buffalo 71-46 on Wednesday to up their record to 9-0. They face St. Michael Albertville on New Year’s Eve.
