Healthy, Specialty Foods Available at Maple Grove Indoor Farmers Market

The market features a wide variety of farmstead goods that fit into special dietary needs or goals. The products, including grass-fed, corn- and soy-free meats, local raw honey, seasonal vegetables, and gluten-free baking mixes, are offered by local farmers and food makers.
“I have had a number of people who visit me at the market because we have 100 percent grass fed and finished meat, as well as our allergy friendly pork,” said vendor Christina Traeger, who raises British White Beef and other livestock on her farm near Avon. “We really draw those who have allergies and strong desire to eat this way.”
Because farmers market vendors grow or make everything that is offered at market, shoppers are able to direct their questions to the folks to produce the food.
“This is a key part of the market experience,” Farmers Market Manager Kirsten Bansen Weigle said. “Many of our customers do not experience food allergies, but still find it’s a real plus to be able to learn how their food is grown or made.”
Shoppers can expect more than 20 vendors with a wide variety of local produce, farmstead goods including eggs, honey, and maple syrup, meats, local cheese, sauces, salsas, pickles, jams and jellies, and specialty items including artisan bread, pierogis, and olive salsa.
Free market bags, frequent shopper cards, and live music from Dave Cofell will round out the market day Jan. 14. The indoor Maple Grove Farmers Market continues on Feb. 11, March 10, and April 14.
