To ensure seniors age 60 and over have working smoke alarms in their homes, the Maple Grove Fire Department is continuing their program of changing out smoke alarm batteries free of charge (while supplies last).

For smoke alarms 10 years or older, the Maple Grove Fire Department provides information and guidance on purchasing new smoke alarms. Once residents have purchased new smoke alarms, the Maple Grove Fire Department install them free of charge. A grant from Energizer battery provided the assists with batteries for smoke alarms more than 10 years old.

The Maple Grove Fire Department also has funds available to purchase new smoke alarms for seniors or mobility impaired citizens who are on fixed or limited incomes. In order to qualify, according to the Maple Grove Fire Department, one person in the household must be age 60 or older or disable.
