Fit Body Boot Camp has become the ‘Cheers’ of fitness, owner Megan Kruger said.

“People are looking for a fast, effective workout that is fun, supportive and encouraging,” Kruger said. “They [clients] are looking for the end outcome - most want to lose some body fat, get fit, and tone up. Clients end up staying with us because of the community.”

It was that sense of community that led Kruger to open a Fit Body Boot Camp location in Maple Grove after opening her first location in St. Louis Park three years ago.

“We’re excited! We’re been well received in Maple Grove – it’s been really special,” she said. The new site is located at 9707 63rd Avenue North (near Highway 169 and 63rd Avenue North) and will have their official grand opening celebration 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27.

“It’s an opportunity for the public to come in, see the space,” she said.

Between her two sites, 14 instructors lead classes which include elements of “high intensity internal training, exercise stacking, as well as active rest periods,” according to the website. The Maple Grove location is part of the worldwide brand of indoor fitness boot camps.

“It’s about the environment,” Kruger said of Fit Body Boot Camp. “People want to be where they are encouraged and supported.  Staff and clients are part of that community. You recognize people, and you get to know people.”

Whether you’re starting out or an athlete, classes are open to all skill levels.

“One of the things that makes the coaches job fun is scaling the workout, up or down, depending on the group,” she said. “In any session, there will be a former college athlete to one that hasn’t exercised in years.  The big concern on our end is that people have been medically cleared for exercise and basic level of movement.”

On the first day of their soft opening at the end of January, Kruger said 90 people participated in classes at the Maple Grove location. “We’re thrilled, really excited,” she said. “In three weeks, people are reporting loses, feeling great. It’s really special – we change people’s lives!”
