Sports Schedules: Hoops Tournaments Ramp Up

The madness of March is upon us and our basketball teams are still very much alive. It’s a busy week as the dream of a trip downtown is in play.

Boys Basketball 
Maple Grove Senior High vs. Elk River High School - Thursday, March 3
The Crimson picked up 32 points from Brad Davison on Saturday, Feb. 27 as they defeated Rogers to advance to the section 8AAAA Championship game Thursday against Elk River High School 7 p.m. at St. Michael-Albertville High School. 

Osseo Senior High vs. Park Center Senior High – Monday, Feb. 28
The undefeated Orioles face Park Center in semifinal action on Monday night 7 p.m. at Osseo Senior High. The winner advances to the section 5AAAA Championship game on Friday night.
Updated: The Orioles advanced to the 5AAAA Champsionship game against Mounds View High School 7 p.m. Friday, March 4 at Rogers High School. 

Heritage Christian Academy vs. Prairie Seeds Academy- Wednesday, March 2   
The Eagles defeated Cristo Rey Jesuit on Saturday, Feb. 27 to advance to the semifinal round of the section 4A tournament. A match up with the third seeded Prairie Seeds Academy will take place 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 2 at 
Anoka Ramsey Community College with the winner likely facing Minneapolis North.

Girls Basketball  
Maple Grove Senior High vs. Buffalo High School – Wednesday, March 2
The third seed Crimson begin section 8AAAA playoff action 7 p.m. at home Wednesday against the sixth seed Buffalo (10-17). The semifinal round is Saturday, March 5.

Osseo Senior High vs. Centennial High School – Wednesday, March 2
The Orioles picked up the fourth seed and will host Centennial High School 5 p.m. Wednesday during section 5AAAA playoff action. Osseo played without starters Kiara Russell and Azaria Reed.

Heritage Christian vs. Chesterton Academy – Thursday, March 3
The fourth seeded Eagles host Chesterton Academy in the opening round of the section 4A tournament 7 p.m. Thursday. Second round action is Saturday night.
