ATV Through Ice, House Fire: February 2016 MGFD Incident Report

The following are incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Fire Department during February 2016.

Feb. 1

  • 9600 block of Grove Circle North. Passenger vehicle fire. Dispatched to a vehicle fire in parking lot of Aldi.  Aldi personnel used a fire extinguisher to partially extinguish fire. Crew used reel line to fully extinguish the fire.

Feb. 3

  • 9500 block of Zircon Court. Burnt food.

Feb. 4

  • Bass Lake Road and Lawndale Lane.  Assist police or other governmental agency.

Feb. 6

  • 8800 block of Rice Lake Road. Steam, vapor, fog or dust thought to be smoke.

Feb. 7

  • 9200 block of Zanzibar Lane North. Water or steam leak.

Feb. 10

  • Bass Lake Road and Fish Lake. Odor /smell of gas.
  • Rogers Fire Station cover assignment, standby, move up.
  • 11300 block of Fountains Drive North. Odor/smell of gas.
  • 17900 block of 72nd Avenue North. Burnt food.

Feb. 13

  • 7100 block of Maplewood Drive North. Odor/smell of gas.
  • 9400 block of Dunkirk Lane North. Water or steam leak.
  • 11300 block of Fountains Drive North. Odor/smell of gas.

Feb. 15

  • 8500 block of Revere Lane North.  Gas leak. 

Feb. 16

  • 10100 block of 99th Place North. Building fire. Dispatched to a house fire. Arrived to smoke showing, working fire in basement. Crews spent time conducting fire attack in basement and first store. Second alarm called later for personnel. Roof opened later and insulation removed due to extension into the attic. Scene turned over to investigations.
  • 15400 block of Bass Lake Road. Prescribed fire.
  • 11300 block of Pheasant Lane North. Carbon monoxide detector activation, no carbon monoxide. 

Feb. 17

  • 14600 block of 77th Place North. Carbon monoxide incident.
  • I-94 west of Maple Grove Parkway. Good intent call. 

Feb. 18

  • 8000 block of Wedgewood Lane North. Strange odor/smell.
  • 11669 Fountains Drive North. EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury.
  • 9900 block of 108th Place North. Strange odor/smell.
  • 101st Avenue North and Nathan Lane North. Good intent call.
  • 9300 block of Trenton Lane North. Arcing, shorted electrical equipment.

Feb. 19

  • 13700 block of Grove Drive. Passenger vehicle fire. Dispatched to report of arcing smoking wires inside glove box of vehicle, fire out on arrival.
  • Elm Road and Peony Lane North.  Arcing, shorted electrical equipment. 

Feb. 20

  • Eastbound I-94 near Hemlock Lane. Oil or other combustible liquid spill.
  • I-94 near Maple Grove Parkway. Extrication of victim(s) from vehicle.
  • 6400 block of Sycamore Court North. Water problem. 

Feb. 21

  • 9200 block of Garland Lane North. Burnt food.
  • 6200 block of Norwood Lane North. Strange odor/smell.
  • 6400 block of Sycamore Lane North. Assist police or other governmental agency. 

Feb. 22

  • 13300 block of Grove Drive.  Water problem.
  • 8700 block of Monticello Lane North. Gas leak (natural gas or LPG).
  • 13100 block of Weaver Lake Road North. Overheated motor. 

Feb. 23

  • 14800 block of 75th Avenue North. Burnt food. 

Feb. 24

  • 12700 block of 73rd Place North. Burnt food.
  • 9300 block of Kingsview Lane North.  Strange odor/smell.

Feb. 25

  • 13700 block of 83rd Way North. Strange odor/smell. 

Feb. 26

  • 15300 block of 76th Avenue North. Burnt food.
  • Southbound I-494 north of Bass Lake Road. Steam, vapor, fog or dust thought to be smoke.

Feb. 27

  • 7500 block of Black Oaks Lane North. Odor, smell of gas.

Feb. 28

  • 14000 block of 85th Place North. Cooking fire, confined to container. 

Feb. 29

  • 11600 block of 93rd Avenue North. Alarm system activation, testing.
  • 14600 block of 95th Avenue North. Odor/smell of gas.
  • Channel from Eagle Lake. Water and ice-related rescue, other. Dispatched to report of ATV going through ice on lake. Arrived on scene to find occupants fine. Police and water patrol also on scene.

There was also one good intent call, three reports of smoke detector activation-no fire, eight reports of alarm or CO detector activation due to malfunction, and four reports of smoke or alarm detector activation-unintentional.
