The Osseo Orioles Boys Basketball team advanced to the Class AAAA state semifinal game after a win against Eden Prairie High School in the quarterfinals Wednesday, March 9. The final score was 85– 75.

“This year, we’ve got nine guys that can play basketball. They aren’t on any all-state team, but they play so well together. It’s an enjoyable team to coach,” Osseo Senior High Head Varsity Coach Tim Theisen.

“…Each one of these guys can be a leading scorer on any night,” Theisen said.

“Different players step up each night,” junior forward John Bezdicek said. “Even if you’re having an off night, you know someone has your back.”

Highlights for the Osseo included:

  • 21 points by junior forward John Bezdicek
  • 12 points by Mar Mar Hughes
  • Their season undefeated streak (30-0) continues

The Orioles will face Lakeville North 6 p.m. Thursday, March 10 at the Target Center. Semifinal tickets will be available at the Target Center and are $14/adults, $9/students, according to the Minnesota State High School League. “We have to come out and play our style of game,” Bezdicek said.
