Old Country Buffet, Maple Grove.
An anchor business at Grove Square, Old County Buffet in Maple Grove closed its doors Monday, March 7, 2016.
A sign was posted on the door, stating, in part:
“This location is now closed for asset inventory. Thank you for your business and we hope to serve you at another location very soon.”
The closure came with the announcement from Buffets, LLC (owner of Old Country Buffet and several other nationwide restaurants) was set to file “Chapter 11 bankruptcy so that it can restructure its debts and liabilities, strengthen its operations by closing certain weaker restaurants and capitalize its business.”
The Maple Grove site, located 13603 Grove Drive, had survived several rounds of closures throughout the chain in recent years.
A request for comment regarding the number of staff impacted at the Maple Grove location following the closure did not receive a response.
The Maple Grove site was among several others closed in Minnesota, including a Coon Rapids location, according to a Star Tribune article. Several other metro locations, such as Crystal and Fridley, were closed at the beginning of February, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. The remaining locations open in Minnesota include Burnsville, Duluth, and Mankato.
