Mar 15, 2016 08:40AM ● By Wendy Erlien

Nearly a month ago, Mongo's Grill at The Fountains in Maple Grove closed their doors for the last time.

"It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce the closing of the Maple Grove Mongos. February 14, 2016 will be our last day in operation," the restaurant shared on their Facebook page. "We are very grateful for our wonderful staff and guests who have been with us over the years."

The business stated it was time to resign their lease and "unfortunately the costs of maintaining this location were not going to work to renew our lease."

"The decision to do so was very difficult; we have really enjoyed our guests and employees and are sad to depart," the restaurant shared on their Facebook page.

Mongo's Grill has another location in St. Cloud and recently celebrated their 10th anniversary. Customers shared their reactions on the Mongo's Grill Facebook page:

  • I loved this place so much and ate there often..And it was so healthy I'm going to miss you all.
  • Sad that this is happening to you and Edelweiss Baby!
  • Sorry to hear Mongo's is closing, very apparent that Mongo's will be missed. Someone will have big shoes to fill at this location.

According to a Kimco Realty flyer, Hong Thai is moving into the former Mongo’s Grill space. Hong Thai announced the upcoming opening on their Facebook page in February stating:  "We are opening a 3rd location in Arbor Lakes!!!! (FOUNTAINS). We cannot express how grateful we are to our loving and loyal customers!"
