Plans to expand Maple Grove Costco Wholesale recently received PUD development stage plan amendment approval by the Maple Grove City Council March 7.

Costco, through TJ Design Strategies, submitted the request for approval to expand the store by 6,135 square feet to add to the liquor sales area.

The proposed expansion is anticipated to remove 15 parking spaces on the west side of the Costco building, which aligns with the parking requirements for the city, according to a Feb. 16 memo to the council from the Maple Grove Community Development department.

Before permits are issued for the project, several conditions were included such as roof drainage for expansion.

Citing company policy, Costco declined to comment on the expansion for the article

The next step:  In order to move forward with expansion, Costco will have to obtain building permits before starting construction.
