Maple Grove Senior High Student Named U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidate

Maple Grove Senior High School student Evan Skaja, a senior, has been named a 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program candidate. 

Students are selected on the basis of academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities. 

During his time at Maple Grove Senior High, Evan participated varsity football, club basketball, math team, Link Crew, National Honor Society, served as a peer tutor, taken eight Advanced Placement classes and classes at the University of Minnesota. He has been honored as a national merit scholarship finalist. 

Evan is among approximately 4,000 candidates selected as a U.S. Presidential Scholar candidate In May, the U.S. Department of Education will announce up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars.

After high school, Evan is interested in studying biomedical engineering in college.
