The Maple Grove Lion’s largest fundraising event, the annual half-marathon, relay, and 5K run/walk, will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2016.

This year’s event will feature Maple Grove’s own U.S. Ski Team member and Olympic hopeful Elle Gaudette.

Gaudette is an aerial skier on the U.S. Ski Team, training, schooling, and living full time in Park City, Utah. She trains and competes year around in hopes of earning her spot on the Olympic team for the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics.

“I am so grateful and appreciative that the Maple Grove Lions have elected to support me and my Olympic dream,” Gaudette said, “There is very limited funding for ski team athletes, so it really means a lot to have the Maple Grove Lions and the local community behind me.”

The Maple Grove Half Marathon and 5K offers three events:  a half marathon, a two-person half marathon relay, and a 5K run/walk. Each race begins and ends at the Maple Grove Senior High School stadium.

For more information, including registration details, visit Preregistration to run/walk in the event is required.
