Theft, Suspicious Activity, Vandalism: MGPD Incident Report

The following is a synopsis of several incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Police Department for the week of March 27 through April 2, 2016. Additional details for burglaries, robbery, arson, and theft can be found on the city website crime mapping section.

March 27

  • 12000 block of 70th Avenue. Report of unlocked vehicle with keys under seat stolen from driveway overnight; vehicle recovered in Minneapolis. Case being investigated.
  • 7000 block of Birchview Road. Report of smoke smell coming from residence. On arrival officers found no fire, but burnt food from oven with plastic covering on it.

March 28

  • 15000 block of 105th Avenue. Report of suspicious vehicle pulling into owners driveway and when owner noticed outside and left in a hurry; vehicle not located.
  • 8000 block of Revere Lane. Report of several items of taken from yard area of business; no suspects at this time.
  • 13000 block of Grove Drive. Report of person taking items from store without paying and then assaulting a person; officers could not located suspect at the time.
  • 12000 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Officers noticed suspicious vehicle at business loading dock. When contact made, persons were arrested for theft and warrants.

March 29

  • 16000 block of County Road 30. Report of flames coming from engine block of vehicle in parking lot; on arrival engine block engulfed in flames.  Fire department arrived a put out fire; no injuries.
  • 7000 block of Ranchview Lane. Report of hearing gun shots or very loud bang; officers arrived and did not locate anything unusual. Later reporting party called back stating it was a bicycle tire that exploded in the garage.

March 30

  • 6000  block of Sycamore Lane. Report of bicycle being stolen from outside of business; case being investigated for suspects.

March 31

  • 13000 block of Grove Drive. Report of two suspects taking items from business without paying; on arrival officers made contact and arrested both parties.  Merchandise returned.
  • 11000 block of Central Park Way. Report of person in construction area taking wire from dumpster; on arrival offices met with crew cleaning up construction area

April 1

  • 9000 block of Kirkwood Way. Report of vehicle sunroof being smashed out; on arrival officers noticed what looked like a rock mark. No suspects at this time.
  • 8000 block of Tewsbury Gate. Report of eggs being thrown at residence doing damage; no suspects at this time.

April 2

  • 8000 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of person trying to get into the wrong vehicle in parking lot; on arrival officers made contact with party in correct vehicle and arrested them for DWI.
  • 12000 block of 63rd Avenue. Report of smoke coming from room in building and nobody answering door; on arrival made entry to room and found burnt food on stove, no fire.
  • 13000 block of Grove Drive. Report of person taking items, not paying for them and leaving business; officers could not locate suspect at this time.

During this time period there were five medical incidents, 28 property damage traffic accidents, and six property damage injury traffic accidents.
