A vehicle accident in Orono has claimed the life of a 26-year-old Maple Grove resident Alexander H. Grenell, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Details of the accident investigation are as follows, according to a Minnesota State Patrol Incident report released over the weekend:

At approximately 2:15 a.m. Saturday, April 30, a Honda Civic driven by a North St. Paul woman and a Ford Fusion driven by Grenell were both traveling eastbound on Highway 12 and Old Crystal Bay in Orono when the Grenell reportedly rear ended the Honda.

The Ford then “then spun out coming to rest in the westbound lanes of Highway 12 when it was struck by a 2011Chevy Cruz,” according to the MPS report.

After being taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Grenell died from fatal injuries, according to a Star Tribune report.

The drivers of the Civic and Cruz had no injuries reported.

The Orono Police Department, West Hennepin Public Safety, and Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
