Candidate Filing Open Aug. 2-16 for Maple Grove City Council, ISD 279 School Board, Hennepin County Board Seats

The following candidate filing information is for the Nov. 8, 2016 general election.
Maple Grove City Council
The filing period for two city council seats up for election in Aug. 2-16. Each city council seat is a four-year term and begins Jan. 2, 2017.
To be eligible for election to the city council, individuals must
obtain and file the following forms with the Maple Grove City Clerk 8 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. during the filing period, according to the city
of Maple Grove website
- Affidavit of candidacy
- Filing fee ($5)
- Statement of economic interest (within 14 days of signing the affidavit of candidacy)
At the time of filing, Maple
Grove City Council candidates must be an eligible voter, 21 years old or
older (currently or when assuming office), and maintained a residence “wherein
they reside 30 days previous to the election.”

Osseo School District School Board
The filing period for three school board seats up for election is Aug. 2-16. To be eligible for election to the school board, individuals must file an Affidavit of Candidacy during the filing period.
The following information about filings was provided
by Osseo Area Schools:
A candidate filing packet, including the Affidavit of Candidacy, may be obtained during the filing period from the ISD 279 Educational Service Center (ESC) during regular office hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday). Filing hours will be extended until 5 p.m. on Aug. 16. The ESC is located at 11200 93rd Avenue North in Maple Grove.
At the time of filing, school board candidates must provide photo ID
and address verification, and pay a $2 filing fee. A candidate for this office
must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or older upon assuming
office, must have been a resident of the school district from which he or she
seeks election for 30 days before the general election, and must have no other
affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or general election.

Hennepin County Board
The filing period for the District 7 Hennepin County Commissioner seat up for election in November is Aug. 2-16. In addition to Maple Grove, the District 7 Hennepin County Commissioner serves the cities of Champlin, Corcoran, Dayton, Greenfield, Hanover, Independence, Loretto, Maple Plain, Medina, Minnetrista, southern Mound, Rogers, St. Bonifacius, northwest Plymouth, and Rockford.

The Hennepin Park Commissioner District 2 Representative seat (representing Maple Grove, Dayton, Champlin, Osseo, Brooklyn Park) is not up for election in 2016.
Candidates for Minnesota House 34A, Minnesota House 34B, Minnesota Senate 34, and U.S. State Representative District 3 has already been determined. According to the Minnesota Secretary of State website, the following individuals are candidates:
