To kick off the National Farmers Market week, a friendly-competition between Team Maple Grove and Team Minnesota Grown took place at the Aug. 4 Maple Grove Farmers Market at the Maple Grove Community Center.
Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson kicked off the event in which 2004 Olympic Games athlete and Minnesota Grown spokesperson Carrie Tollefson, along with her team, faced off against Team Maple Grove which including City Administrator Heidi Nelson, Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Stifterin and their team in the first-ever Minnesota Grown Three Minute "Try-athlon" - a series of games focusing locally grown produce.
