A Maple Grove woman was recently sentenced to more than five years in prison for embezzlement of about $1.7 million from a medical supply company, according to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

Stephanie Davis, 37, was sentenced Aug. 25 to 68 months in prison. Hennepin County District Court Judge Juan Hoyos also ordered Davis to pay $1,087,393 in restitution.

The theft began around 2005, according to the Hennepin CountyAttorney’s Office, and was discovered in January when company officials at Reliable Medical Supply Co. in Brooklyn Park discovered two checks that had been paid from the company account but did not show up as payables in the company records.

Davis had worked as the accounts payable clerk since 2000.
