Blaine Man Dies From Injuries After Accident at County Road 81/Elm Creek Boulevard

Updated 9:30 a.m. Oct. 2 - According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office, Tony D. Bjorklund, 50, of Blaine died Friday afternoon, Sept. 30 from multiple injuries received from the accident that occurred shortly after noon on Friday at the County Road 81 and Elm Creek Boulevard intersection. Bjorklund was the driver of one of the vehicles.
Maple Grove Police and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner continue to investigate the accident.
Updated Oct. 1 - The intersection below has been reopened. The accident remains under investigation, according to police.
Original post: 4:15 p.m. Sept. 30 - Shortly after noon on Friday, Sept. 30, a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of County Road 81 and Elm Creek Boulevard left one individual seriously injured and the roadway temporarily closed, according to the Maple Grove Police Department.
Two vehicles were reportedly involved in the incident, each with a single occupant, and one individual was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
"At this time, we do not have any known contributing factors that
caused this crash, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor," Maple Grove Police Department wrote in a release.
As of 4 p.m., the Minnesota State Patrol continues to be in the process of reconstructing the accident and has shut down the intersection for several hours.
"We ask motorists to avoid this intersection and please use alternate routes during this time," according to the Maple Grove Police Department.
