When Andrea Hartneck was searching for a location to open Pure Barre, she was drawn to Main Street in Maple Grove.

“I’ve always loved the northwest metro. Maple Grove has always been a hub - a destination” she said.

Hartneck’s journey to open a Pure Barre location in the northwest metro started with her own search to find a full-body workout. Growing up, she was involved in cheerleading and gymnastics - as an adult, she hoped to find a workout that included the same type of physical training.

“Pure Barre was a place I could use my old skills, I liked the basis of that,” she said. As a result, Hartneck started attending workouts at the Eden Prairie Pure Barre location. The full-body workout at Pure Barre, according to their website, includes using a ballet barre to “perform small isometric movements” set to music.

“As soon as I started going there, I thought it was a great opportunity for the northwest metro,” the Plymouth resident stated.

As she began looking for a site for her new Pure Barre franchise location - Hartneck was drawn to Main Street. After construction is finished and her employees complete certification, she hopes to open Pure Barre-Maple Grove (7891 Main Street, next to Bubbly Paws) in November.

“It is a great workout for anyone - of any skill level or gender,” Hartneck said. “You don’t need to have taken a dance class to take a Pure Barre class.”

The class structure is the same for each class session, with the skill level able to be modified based on movements. Each class is 55 minutes, starting with a warm up followed by work on arm, leg, thigh, and abdominal muscles before a cool down.

“The workout is as hard as you make it,” Hartneck said. “It will mentally and physically challenge you to work to your full potential.”

During the weekdays, classes will be offered early to mid morning, around noon as well as late afternoon and evening. On the weekends, morning classes will be available. For the new studio opening, the Maple Grove location is offering a pre-opening special of one month of unlimited classes for $99.

“The number one thing for people to know about Pure Barre is ‘don’t be intimidated’,” Hartneck said. “It’s more than a workout - it’s a community of friends. Everyone is welcome.”
