A serious motor vehicle accident Monday morning involving two pedestrians has resulted in the hospitalization, with serious, non-life threatening injuries, of a 16-year-old male, according to the Maple Grove Police Department.

The incident happened near the 9400 block of Fernbrook Lane North about 7:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17.

"It was reported that two pedestrians were struck in the crosswalk by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not have any injuries," the Maple Grove Police Department stated in a release. A 15-year-old male was treated at the scene and released.

A 16-year-old male was transported to North Memorial Hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries. The Osseo School District stated the injured pedestrian is a Maple Grove Senior High student.

"Our focus is on supporting the injured student and the student’s family, as well as all Maple Grove Senior High students and staff who are concerned about their school family member," ISD 279-Osseo Area Schools School/Community Relations Director Barbara Olson said.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident, according to police.

The incident continues to be under investigation.
