Blaine Too Much for Osseo on Senior Night

Oct 20, 2016 07:41AM ● By Doug Erlien

Osseo wide receiver Julian Cavin hauls in a touchdown pass against Blaine.

The Osseo Senior High football team dropped the final game of the regular season 47-13 to the Blaine Bengals, finishing the regular season 2-5.

During the game Wednesday, Oct. 19, the Orioles offense had a difficult time getting started while the physical Bengals seemingly punished Osseo at every turn.

Blaine scored on their first two offensive series to lead 14-0 after the first quarter. They went up 21-0 on a second quarter score before the Orioles finally got on the score board. The Orioles Gregg Arrell found Julian Cavin in the end zone for a 30-yard touchdown and to cut the deficit to 21-7 at the half.

The Bengals squashed any thought of a comeback as they scored 26 points in the third quarter, including a pair of defensive touchdowns.

The Orioles would score again in the fourth quarter on a Brandon Stromback 1-yard run as the second team saw action.

Orioles running back Mar Mar Hughes sat out the contest and fellow senior Parnell Hughes suffered an injury prior to halftime and did not return to the game.

Now the Orioles await their playoff positioning which will be released on Thursday morning, Oct. 20.
