In an effort to promote help support and promote reading, students from Osseo Senior High spread out to elementary schools throughout the Osseo School District on Oct. 19 as part of the Osseo READS Bookmark Day program.

The program first started three years ago by a group of teachers/coaches from Osseo Senior High. Since then, it is grown to approximately 200 students and staff traveling to 14 elementary schools in the ISD 279 - Osseo Area Schools each year - many of the student groups and fall sports are represented.

"The feedback from the elementary schools has been great," Osseo Senior High teacher and coach Jennifer Moen said. "The elementary kids love seeing the 'big kids' from OSH and are excited to have them at their school."

As a follow up to the Osseo READS Bookmark Day, students from the winter teams/programs partner with the elementary schools to read weekly in the classrooms.
