The Maple Grove Crimson football team continued their revenge tour on Friday, Nov. 4 with a 21-17, come from behind victory over the Edina Hornets. The win earned the Crimson the section championship and advancement to the state tournament.

The Hornets defeated the Crimson earlier in the season 21-20 and it appeared that Edina had upset on their mind again. Edina jumped out to a 17-0 lead, thanks to a pair of first quarter touchdown passes from Reed Boltman to Parker Rickert. The Crimson offense finally put points on the board before the halftime break when senior quarterback Brad Davison connected with Ky Carlson on a 10-yard touchdown pass to make it 17-6 at the half.

The Crimson continued to chip away. Davison found Jack Dugan from 18-yards out to close the deficit to three points.

Game winning drive Davison found the end zone with his feet from eight yards out to put Maple Grove up 21-17 with 1:37 remaining in the game. The drive included two conversions on fourth down, both to senior Teddy Raasch who for the second straight week came up huge for the Crimson in the passing game.

Maple Grove advances to the state tournament for the fourth straight season and will play Eden Prairie in the first round of the state tournament 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at Chanhassen High School. The Eagles handed the Crimson their second loss in week four of the regular season 28-15.
