Election 2016: Maple Grove City Council Election Results

Editor's note: The following results are considered unofficial until canvassed. 

Two Maple Grove City Council seats were up for election on the Nov. 8 ballot. The Maple Grove City Council is scheduled to canvass and officially declare the results of the 2016 general election at a special meeting 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Maple Grove Government Center. 

According to the unofficial, non-canvassed 2016 election results on the Minnesota Secretary of State website, the two candidates receiving the most votes from the 24 precincts reporting are Kristy Barnett with 11,062 votes (22.94 percent) and Judith A. Hanson with 9,121 votes (18.92 percent). 

The breakdown is as follows:
Kristy Barnett - 11,062 votes (22.94 percent) 
Judith A. Hanson - 9,121 votes (18.92 percent)
Adam Bedard - 8,186 votes (16.98 percent)
Jeffrey A. Drayton - 7,826 votes (16.23 percent)
Sherri Marie Johnson - 6,528 votes (13.54 percent)
Dave Brown - 5,113 votes (10.60 percent)

The two newly-elected council members will serve a four-year term beginning Jan. 2, 2017.
