“We scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the game,” Head Coach Kelli Waalk said.
Her team added two more goals, taking a 5-1 lead at the half.
“Knowing what a good team they are and their ability to score, a four goal lead isn’t really a lot,” Waalk said.
The two teams played an overtime thriller a year ago, and the two programs have built a pretty special relationship.
“I think the best thing about this game is that our two teams have developed a lot of friendships over the years,” Waalk said. “In this particular game, we would do something well and the kids on the other team would come over and say right in the middle of the game, nice job, nice goal.”
Alfred Konneh scored four goals for the Pirates in the victory and earned All-Tournament team honors. The Pirates ended the season undefeated at 15-0.
