Sports Scoreboard: Crimson Girls Hockey Stay Hot With 5-4 Win Over Centennial

Tuesday, Nov. 29 was a busy night for local sports teams as the 2016-17 winter high school sports season gets underway. 

Girls Hockey:
Maple Grove 5 Centennial 4
The Crimson girls hockey team continued their winning ways Tuesday night with a 5-4 win over rival Centennial. Since losing their season opener 6-3 to Edina, the Crimson have won four straight games including a 2-0 shutout against then top ranked Eden Prairie. The team will play against Champlin Park Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Maple Grove Community Center. 

Elk River/Zimmerman 13 North Metro 0
Elk River scored nine goals in the first period in their 13-0 victory over the Orioles. Elk River/Zimmerman peppered Stars goal tending 54 times. The Stars (0-5) face Blaine on Saturday, Dec. 3. 

Girls Basketball:
Wayzata 57 Maple Grove 43
The Crimson opened the 2016-2017 season on the road with a 57-43 loss to the Trojans. Juniors Rebekah Tyler and Katrina Theis led the way for 
Maple Grove with 15 and 13 points.
The Crimson travel to Rogers on Friday night to face the Royals.

Boys Hockey:
Buffalo 5 Osseo 0
The Orioles dropped to 0-2 on the young season after being shut out against Buffalo on Tuesday night. Osseo was only able to amas 15 shots on goal. Goaltender Ben Kleinschay faced 49 shots, making 44 saves. The Orioles face Andover on 
Saturday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. at Dick Vraa Ice Arena
