After a winter storm warning is set to expire at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, a wind chill advisory is forecast to take its place bringing “bitterly cold wind chills Saturday night into Sunday,” according to the National Weather Service Twin Cities.

The wind chill warning issued by the National Weather Service Twin Cities is in effect from 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 until noon Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016.

The warning stated “winds gusting as high as 30 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow” creating areas of “poor visibility.”

Wind chills are forecast to span from 5 degrees to -30 degrees below zero between noon and 6 p.m. Saturday and dipping to -25 to -40 degrees below zero between 6 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.

“The dangerously cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin,” according to the National Weather Service Twin Cities.
