Chairperson Dean Henke, at his last meeting before leaving the board, stated the board met with Dr. Maguire in December and provided feedback. The board's mid-year evaluation of the superintendent "is very positive," Henke stated.
"Kate continues to keep the district’s strategic plan at the forefront of our work. She communicates a clear vision of excellence district wide and she has a leadership team that is competent and passionate about the work of the school district. Kate conducts herself in a professional manner and models the behavior that she expects from staff. Kate has created an environment that builds trust by intently providing the opportunity for students, parents, staff and community members to participate in shaping major decisions," Henke said. "With numerous new leaders across the district, they will need ongoing support and development in their new role. Kate needs to ensure the new leaders are gathering stakeholder input and decisions are made in a transparent manner."
Henke continued by stating Maguire "keeps board members informed of all major issues that impact our district....In this era of instantaneous information, we need to be mindful that there are times that the news will be out in the community before we have had an opportunity to fully investigate and respond."
He concluded the summary stating the board "affirms her direction" in leading the district.
The final evaluation date is decided by the school board, but has typically completed in May and shared at the June meeting.
