For the 2016-17 winter season, a snowmobile trail agreement and location requested by Northwest Trails Association was approved by the Maple Grove City Council at its Jan. 3 meeting.

The trail, according to documents provided to the council, “lies on both sides of County Road 81 from the north city limits to west of Fernbrook Lane, then north through one private property before going into Dayton. Permits are on file from the private property owners, Shirley and Wayne Martin, upon which the trail passes.”

Northwest Trails submitted request to the city to ask permission for the trail to be installed along the roadways, as was requested last year. The organization maintains insurance for the trail.

The agreement expires April 1, 2017, according to documents provided to the council.
