After nine years of operating in Maple Grove, the St. Cloud State University Twin Cities Graduate Center has closed its location on 6401 Sycamore Court North and reopened in Plymouth. The lease for the Maple Grove site was set to expire at the end of January.

During their time in Maple Grove, enrollment has grown along with program offerings.

“In the last seven years we have increased our programmatic offerings: having started with the MBA program, we added offerings in graduate programs in engineering management, MedTech graduate certificate programs: Medical Technology Quality, Regulatory Affairs and services, Applied Clinical Research, and most recently we have added applied doctoral programs in Educational Administration and Leadership,” St. Cloud State University Twin Cities Graduate Center Interim Dean Latha Ramakrishnan, Ph.D said.

“Close to 20 percent of our graduate students connect with us through the Twin Cities graduate center,” she said.

The new location in Plymouth at 9750 Rockford Road includes a few differences than the Maple Grove site.

“Our lease was up and we were moving buildings so we decided to make some upgrades in the process – like the improved security, better technology, classrooms that are more soundproof and better for collaborating,” Ramakrishnan said. Highlights of the new location include a larger space providing for more "efficient and seamless" transition between classrooms, conference and breakout rooms and a faculty/staff area.

“In addition to a student lounge and coffee galley, to serve our stakeholders better, we have added a lactation room and a unisex bathroom,” Ramakrishnan said. “St. Cloud State University’s recent strategic plan refresh calls for growth in terms of offering rigorous and relevant academic programs in applied graduate and professional education.  The move to our new Plymouth location positions us to be successful in this regard.”

An official grand opening at the Plymouth location is scheduled for 4 p.m. March 15.
