Feb 15, 2017 05:45AM ● By Doug Erlien
The Maple Grove Crimson gymnastics team ran through the Northwest Suburban Conference with an undefeated record for their 2016-2017 season.

The Crimson are peaking at the right time as section action begins this week and head coach Shannon Hoover cites close relationship of the team this season, including the leadership by senior captains
Alex Kara, Ashley Song, and Carys Turner.

“The beauty of this team is we have such a strong connection,” Hoover said. “The girls are like sisters. They really care about each other and want the best for each other.
They push each other to be better every day at practice. We have great comradery and support.

Junior Emma Seamens has been strong on the vault and on the floor and sophomore Emma Eungard have been a steady competitors all year, according to Hoover. In addition, the Crimson are getting strong contributions from freshman Nadia Abid on the floor, beam and bars.

The Crimson seemed to turn the corner in December against Champlin Park and they haven’t looked back.

“Champlin is a great team and my girls were able to pull off a very close win against them,” Hoover said. “That meet made our team think we could go far this season if we stay healthy and focused.”

section meet is Thursday, Feb.16 at Champlin Park High School.
