ISD 279 - Osseo Area Schools recently received a Best Communities for Music Education designation from National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.

"This honor acknowledges efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who work together to ensure access to music learning for all students as part of the curriculum," according to a press release from Osseo Area Schools

The Osseo School District has received the designation every year since 2009 and is one of seven districts in the state to receive the honor in 2017. Nationwide, 527 school districts were recognized.

“Studying music has intrinsic benefits and, on its own, is core to learning,” NAMM Foundation Executive Director Mary Luehrsen said. “The links between student success and music education have now been demonstrated by brain researchers in multiple studies.”
