Maple Grove Pearle Vision Receives ‘Innovator of the Year’ Award

For the second time in six years, Maple Grove Pearle Vision has been received the 2016 ‘Innovator of the Year’ Award at the Pearle Vision National Summit in May.
The award, which recognizes excellence in innovative thinking and managing within the franchise guidelines, was presented to owners Donna and Jim Hawley, along with General Manager and co-owner (and daughter) Brooke Edwards. The first year they owned the Maple Grove location (2011), they received the award. Once again, they were awarded for their work in 2016.
“Since we are the highest volume store of all 700+ North American Pearle Visions, we have to be innovative every day,” Donna said in an email to Maple Grove Voice. “We were a bit surprised that we won it this year. The team loved it - they get very excited when we attain #1 volume store each year and an award like this is something that they recognize as something that they participated in.”
Several strategies have helped Maple Grove Pearle Vision earn its success. Making customers, staff, product priorities has been key.
“Our customers receive a personal thank you every time they purchase from our team,” Donna said. “We recognize that it is most important to insure that our team of 26 professional doctors, technicians, opticians, lab techs, and directors of first impressions have a mutually beneficial work-life balance and that our work environment is a happy one with each one knowing that they can count on our family for support in every way.”
Effectively managing turning inventory of 2,500 frames and sunglasses – all of which are purchased personally by the General Manager Brooke and her assistant buyer, Julia, has been part of their strategy. “We have to be innovative on how we manage the volume and continue to grow,” Donna said.
Maple Grove Pearle Vision was nominated in two other categories for 2016 as well – Operator of the Year and the Stanley Pearle Award, she stated.
“For us, it’s only about taking care of our team and continually improving our customers’ experience, while offering outstanding eye care and offering the best products for optimal vision, comfort, and a fashionably functional look,” Donna said.
