For most meat lovers, there are fewer things that beat a good burger. In February 2015, Paul Bruggeman and Thaddeus L’Heureux opened Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers at The Fountains at Arbor Lakes.

“We felt that The Fountains at Arbor Lakes was a nice fit for Freddy’s due to its regional draw,” Bruggeman said. “It’s a high-traffic, family-friendly shopping center and an overall great match for our family-oriented concept.”

Freddy’s, which employs about 85 local individuals, has received great feedback from the community about the service they receive.

“We get many call-outs on social media praising our Maple Grove team for their work in the restaurant,” Bruggeman said. “Our team members have become familiar with guests and their stories and know many of their favorite menu items by heart. It’s a fun, quality, and personal dining experience.”

For co-owner L’Heureux, it’s the food that brings customers in, but it’s the overall experience that brings them back.

“Many of our first-time guests mention that they enjoyed our cooked-to-order menu items, but they’ll make return visits because of the way they were treated by our team. They’re impressed by the genuine hospitality demonstrated by all our team members, as well as the standard of cleanliness. It’s our focus on these two aspects that set us apart.”

What is a Steakburger?

A popular question received by Freddy’s is “What is a steakburger?”

“It’s a premium lean ground beef steakburger that we press thin on a flat grill to create crispy edges and a juicy center,” L’Heureux said.

The fan favorite is Freddy’s Original Double, made with two steakburger patties and two slices of cheese topped with onion slices, two pickle planks and mustard, all on a toasted bun.
