There was a buzz inside of the Maple Grove Community Gymnasium as second to seventh grade girls took part in the annual Maple Grove Crimson Girls Basketball Youth Camp.

More than 70 campers worked on their skills and game including shooting, ball handling, and defense. The skill work is great, but according to Crimson Head Coach Mark Cook, the opportunity to watch future players is the most rewarding.

“The youth clinic that we do for second to seventh grade girls is such a blast. The energy level these young girls bring to the gym is off the charts,” Cook said. “We love the opportunity the clinic provides for our current players to give back to the community and work with the future of our program. It’s a great way to kick off summer.”

The Crimson program provides two clinics during the summer. The second will take place the week of July 24-27 at Maple Grove Senior High. The cost is $70. Registration is available through Maple Grove Park and Recreation
