Maple Grove to Host Regional AAU Track and Field Meet

Maple Grove Senior High School will host the 2017 AAU Regional Championship Track and Field Meet on Thursday, June 29 through Saturday, July 2. The meet runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and admission is $5 for the general public.

The event draws nearly 1,000 athletes from the five-state region (Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and North and South Dakota). Top finishers from each event in the competition will advance to the Junior Olympics in Ypsilanti, Michigan July 31 - Aug. 5.

To qualify for the regional competition, individual athletes and relay teams must have placed in the top 16 at a state qualifying/district meet. District meets will be held June 24 and 25 at Brooklyn Center High School.

Events include the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, 1600 meter run, 3200 meter run, 4 x 100 meter relay, long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, discus, and javelin throws.
