Maple Grove's Haakenson Named Gatorade Player of the Year

Maple Grove Senior High School Crimson junior midfielder Meredith Haakenson was named Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year for 2016-2017.

The award was established in 1985 to recognize the nation’s most elite high school student-athletes for their athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character.

Haakenson led the Crimson this past season with 15 goals and seven assists this past season.

The Crimson advanced to the section championship game where they fell 3-2 to Centennial.
