Apparent Drowning Claims Life of Child in Maple Grove

At approximately 9 a.m. Sunday, July 2, Hennepin County Sheriff's deputies, Maple Grove Police and Fire, and North Memorial paramedics "responded to a call of an unconscious child in a pool at the 7300 block of Orchid Ln. in Maple Grove," according to a release from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

First responders began medical care upon arrival. 

"The child was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased," according to the release from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

The incident remains under investigation. Official cause of death and identification will be made by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
