The Maple Grove Gymboree location at the The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes was announced as one of the approximately 350 stores nationwide scheduled to close as part of a "court-supervised financial restructuring," according to a press release from The Gymboree Corporation in mid-July.
In addition to the Maple Grove store, other Minnesota sites planned for closure include Edina, Eden Prairie, Burnsville, Mankato, and Medford.
“Right-sizing our store footprint is a central part of our efforts to ensure Gymboree emerges from this restructuring process as a stronger and more competitive organization, with greater financial flexibility to invest in our future," President and CEO of Gymboree Daniel Griesemer said. "This was a difficult decision to make, but we are confident that it is in the best long-term interest of our company, our customers and our broader employee base. I am deeply grateful to our team, their exceptional ongoing dedication and their focus on continuing to put our customers at the center of all we do.”
Store impacted were scheduled to begin closing sales starting July 18, according to the press release. As of July 21, the closure date of the Maple Grove location has not yet been made public.
