Unknown Camper, Stolen Diaper Bag, Reading a Book: MGPD Incident Report

The following synopsis of incidents occurred in Maple Grove July 23-29, 2017, as provided by the Maple Grove Police Department

July 23
  • 8400 block of Rice Lake Road. Report of vehicle gone through overnight. Nothing of value taken.
July 24
  • 9200 block of Xemium Lane. Report of catalytic converter cut from vehicle parked in driveway overnight.
  • 16500 block of 96th Avenue. Report of a dog left unattended in a vehicle. Officer responded, noting the temperature was elevated inside. Owner was given a verbal warning.
  • 8400 block of Forestview Lane. Report of child’s bicycle stolen from outside of home.
  • 7800 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of suspicious vehicle in parking lot. Officer made contact and confirmed male was a registered guest who was just using Wi-Fi outside since it was a nice evening.
July 25
  • 16000 block of 96th Avenue. Report of an unknown tent set up on individual’s property. Officer responded and found no evidence of owner. Tent was removed and property inventoried.
  • Arbor Lakes Parkway and Hemlock Lane. Report of two people swimming in lake. Officer responded and found individuals snorkeling who were unaware of city ordinance, they were cooperative and left.
  • 9000 block of 96th Avenue. Report of multiple items stolen from vehicle including a laptop, headphones and checkbook. Party was informed by bank that suspect had tried to cash one of the checks in another city. Further investigation being conducted.
July 26
  • 19000 block of 63rd Place. Report of fire in trailer parked in street. Officer responded, fire apparently started due to spontaneous combustion from stain and used rags stored inside. Followed up by Maple Grove Fire Department.
  • 9800 block of Maple Grove Parkway. Report of purse stolen from locked vehicle parked outside business. Suspect gained access by smashing window.
  • 9600 block of Upland Lane. Report of disorderly party at place of business. Individual had become irate and abusive. Officer responded and suspect was trespassed.
July 27
  • 19000 block of 81st Place. Report of missing child. Officer responded and located the child who was hiding in residence.
  • 12000 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of shoplifting from retail story. Follow-up investigation being done to identify the suspect.
  • 12700 block of 74th Avenue. Report of loud talking outside of residence. Officer made contact. Individuals complied with the request for quiet.
July 28
  • 6500 block of Juneau Lane. Report of diaper bag stolen overnight from unlocked vehicle parked in driveway of residence.
  • 6800 block of Magda Drive. Report of male sleeping in vehicle for over two hours at park. Officer responded and found driver of vehicle was just reading a book.
  • 1200 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of two individuals fishing in the lake. Officer responded and advised cooperative parties of the ordinance.
  • 6600 block of Empire Court. Report of vehicle stolen from garage. Keys were left in car and garage left open. Vehicle recovered in another jurisdiction and suspects arrested.
July 29
  • 16000 block of 96th Avenue. Report of injury at place of business. Officer responded and monitored individual until ambulance arrived and transported victim to hospital for further care.
  • 6200 block of Merrimac Lane. Report of unfamiliar male riding repeatedly up and down the street on his bike. Officers responded but individuals was gone upon arrival.
  • I-94 and Hemlock Lane. Report of an erratic driver. Officer responded and suspect arrested for DWI.
During this time period, there were 29 property damage, traffic accidents and two property damage injury traffic accidents.
