Maple Grove and Osseo battle in girls tennis at Maple Grove Middle School

The rivalry between Maple Grove and Osseo will always be a point of discussion when the two schools, separated by four miles, get together. On the tennis court, the girls programs are finding they have more in common than one would think.

When the Crimson and Orioles met for their annual match up on Monday, August 21, they did so without a single senior on the court. Maple Grove has a pair of eighth graders in Zoe Adkins and Kenzie McVay in singles competition. Adkins leads the way for the Crimson following a state tournament appearance last year as a seventh grader. Osseo’s top singles player, Jessica Dahl, is only a sophomore and the remainder of the Orioles lineup is filled with underclassmen.

The Crimson may have gotten the better of Osseo, winning the match 7-0, but both programs gained valuable experience as they continue to grow.

Zoe Adkins MG (8) defeated Jessica Dahl O (10) - 6-0; 6-1
Victoria Epshteyn MG (11) defeated Kaylee McPherson O (11) - 6-0; 6-0
Emily Carlson MG (10) defeated Jelena Ngop O (11) - 6-0; 6-0
Kenzie McVay MG (8) defeated Christa Asare O (11) - 6-2; 6-2
