Handcuffs, Video, Theft: Maple Grove Police Department Incident Report

The following synopsis of incidents occurred in Maple Grove Aug. 20-26, 2017, as provided by the Maple Grove Police Department.

Aug. 20

  • 12800 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of items stolen from retail store.  Investigation resulted in identifying suspect for charging.
  • 18000 block of Gladstone Boulevard. Report of unconscious person. Officer responded, party found to be having allergic reaction to bee sting.  Officer administered care until ambulance arrived and transport victim to hospital.
  • 89th Avenue and Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of child in backseat of vehicle showing handcuffs on wrists. Officer made contact and found they were toy handcuffs. 

Aug. 21

  • 8100 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of two unlocked bicycles stolen from rack outside of business.
  • Fountains Drive and Fountains Way. Report of child who had seatbelt wrapped around neck. Officer responded and cut the seat belt. Ambulance arrived to assist, the child had no injuries. 

Aug. 22

  • 12000 block of Meadowlark Circle. Report of vehicle parked in driveway being egged, no suspects.
  • 12400 block of 90th Place. Report of fraudulent activity on bankcard, case under investigation.
  • 10000 block of 96th Place. Report of loose change stolen from unlocked vehicle parked in driveway overnight.
  • 11000 block of Eagle Lake Boulevard. Report of two individuals observed on security camera in homeowners yard. Officer made contact with parties, who were selling cards for a fundraiser. 

Aug. 23

  • 13800 block of Grove Drive. Report of unruly customer. Officer responded to mediate the transaction, party left without further incident.
  • 8100 block of Wedgewood Lane. Report of customer possibly under the influence. Officer made contact with party, who was intoxicated. Family member was called to provide ride home. 

Aug. 24

  • Fish Lake Woods Park. Officer found vehicle in parking lot after hours. Contact made with person in driver’s seat, who was intoxicated and arrested.
  • 11900 block of Central Park Way. Report of window smashed out with rock and vehicle gone through, missing items recovered nearby.
  • 12700 block of Elm Creek Boulevard. Report of stolen items from place of business. Follow-up investigation needed to identify suspect.
  • Highway 169 & I-694. Report of person walking along freeway. Officer made contact and found individual was lost. Advised party of safety issues and provided ride to destination.

Aug. 25

  • 15000 block of 76th Place. Report of possible burglary. Officers responded, checked the residence, everything in order, no one located.
  • 12000 Central Park Way. Report of damage to basketball court equipment and trash thrown around, no suspects.
  • I-94 and Maple Grove Parkway. Report of panhandler getting close to traffic.  Officer made contact, provided safety advice and resource contact information.
  • 10000 block of 96th Place. Report of neighbor wearing tactical vest and carrying what appeared to be an assault rifle.  Officer made contact and found individual was filming video with friend and was in possession of airsoft gun; advised of concerns. 

Aug. 26

  • 11700 block of Central Park Way. Report of individual passed out in backseat of cab. Officer responded and was able to wake party who gave name of person who could come and take care of them for the night.
  • 8900 block of Sycamore Lane. Report of vehicle on fire in driveway near residence. Officers and fire department responded and fire was extinguished without further incident.
  • Grove Circle and Maple Grove Parkway. Report of verbal confrontation between drivers. Officer responded and discussed appropriate ways to handle the situation. 

During this time period there were 25 property damage traffic accidents and five property damage injury traffic accidents.
