The first days of fall 2017 played more like the dog days of August.

With temperatures in the 90’s with head indexes in the 90’s, residents hit area lakes and beaches trying to extend summer at least one more weekend.

Friday Sept. 22 saw temps 94, one degree off of the record of 95 set in 1936.

According to the National Weather Service, record temperatures were broken or tied over the weekend when the mercury hit 90 degrees on both Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24.

The average high temperature for the end of September is 69 degrees,
according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast for the week ahead predicts high temperatures closer to the normal average.
