Maple Grove's Wieneke Recognized for Good Works

Maple Grove graduate and current South Dakota State University receiver Jake Wieneke was one of 22 college football players named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works team after being nominated earlier this year.

The award recognizes the dedication to volunteering and commitment to community service.

Wieneke, a 2013 graduate of Maple Grove Senior High, was noted for an impressive list of accomplishments including:

Participating in four mission trips to Jamaica, where he built homes and served people with disabilities who have been abandoned.

Traveled on mission trip to Pine Ridge Indiana Reservation and Kenya where he organized

 sports camps and worked in schools.

Mentored a student for four years through the Brookings County Youth Mentoring program.

Mentored  ESL students at a local elementary school.

Wieneke is currently a senior at South Dakota State University and has 22 receptions for 261 yards and five touchdowns in five games this season.
