As part of the consent agenda at the Monday, Nov. 6 Maple Grove City Council meeting, the council adopted a resolution “designating a two-hour parking zone along Fountains Drive within the Fountains at Arbor Lakes shopping center.”
The city was approached by representatives of The Fountains management company (Kimco Realty Company), according to a memo presented to the council, regarding concerns of on-street parking on along Fountains Drive.
“On a consistent basis, numerous vehicles have been observed parking in the existing sixteen (16) on-street parking spaces provided on either side of Fountains Drive for several hours, often times taking up prime parking spots for potential customers of the various shops located along the roadway,” according to the memo. “While it cannot be confirmed, it is likely that these long-term parked vehicles are employees that work at the nearby shops. The property management company has been working with their tenants to ask their employees to not park in these prime on-street parking spaces, but the problem still persists.”
By adopting the resolution, a two-hour parking zone was established along both sides of Fountains Drive between Fountains Way and Elm Creek Boulevard between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
It applies only to the “existing parking bays that are located on the east and west sides of Fountains Drive immediately north of the Fountains Drive/Fountains Way intersection.”
